Additional information regarding that dance clip was just revealed here: http://web.archive.org/web/20230101085355/http://web.archive.org/screenshot/https://twitter.com/trengriffin/status/1609310322443313152

inbtwn: That Samsung OEM theme was only discovered January this year, so not enough time has passed for it to be known that those sounds didn't come from Longhorn/Vista. A good chunk of the Windows community is well aware of the misattributed sound schemes, such as BetaWiki.

As for the launch footage, as long as the algorithm keeps pushing the wrong clip to people, they'll still think that's what it really was. I actually heard from someone that they saw an extended version of that dance clip long ago which had (presumably German) narration on top of it. Though obviously, that extended footage is lost by now.

i mean, there are still people out there that think those fake "Windows Vista Beta" startup/shutdown sounds are real, despite having been confirmed that they're actually from a third-party sounds pack sold around the time Vista came out, so.

i have a feeling that misinfo about old tech stuff is only gonna get worse as time gets on and i don't know how to feel about that.

An update: I just spotted one of them in the wild while browsing Reddit. I cannot do anything since I have commited to not make any more social media accounts and I did not bookmark the comment anyway.

I did not know that misinformation is a thing.

THERE WERE NO BILL GATES DANCERS, IT WAS ALL A LIE

Here's hoping that the misinformation dies down by a lot within the next few years once Windows 95's 30th anniversary hits, if the algorithm will stop that is.
