Bigeye #16: 233MHz 1MB Pentium ProCreated on June 13, 2020 Conserve bandwidth! Change quality: 240 480 Maximum The CPU used here is not as prone to being scrapped by the wrong hands due to its blacktop design as opposed to the heavy gold top incarnations, but it is also harder to find because it was really only made for the highest end servers of 1997. Even as the Pentium II would come to outpace the fastest Pentium Pros in most applications, the giant full speed cache in the SL259 and SL25A models make this strand of Pentium Pro a force to be reckoned with, especially with a simple overclock to 233MHz. Again, Windows NT 4.0 is the most ideal operating system to go with a Pentium Pro, but even Windows 95 OSR2 works wonders here. It may be buggy without the USB supplement installed, but I generally haven't run into problems with Windows 95 on Pentium Pro systems. Socket 8 coolers tend to be difficult to find, but if you want to turn to a rather thin heatsink being sold from the United Kingdom, you can affix a 60mm fan to it using some long screws with large threads.
