Yes, you can run a 500MHz AMD K6-2 on a classic Socket 7 motherboard, although this one is overclocked from 450MHz. Be careful, though. Your motherboard needs to support 2.2V CPUs, and that is something largely reserved for very late models from 1998.

An Nvidia TNT2 Model 64 also makes a good pairing with a Socket 7 system and is pretty common. With it, you can get high quality Direct3D and OpenGL hardware support, and frame rates are usually decent.
