I know that Start Menu runs on its own visible process (StartMenuExperienceHost.exe) since Windows 10 build 1903 but it seems like it has been a kind of special program running internally since the beginning?

Kugee, I, and very few others know about this, but you can actually close the start menu itself from the taskbar. We first learned about it through an old Japanese broadcast showing off software easter eggs.
