SSE Instructions on Windows 95Created on June 21, 2020 Conserve bandwidth! Change quality: 240 Maximum Windows 95 doesn't natively support the SSE instruction set found in the Pentium III and later, but you can have AUTOEXEC.BAT call a program that enables access to the SSE register set. Be careful, though... if you run more than one SSE program at a time, they will corrupt each other at minimum and possibly crash the whole computer, as Windows 95 still isn't aware of the new register set in order to handle context switching for programs using SSE. You can find the program to enable SSE in Windows 95 (as well as DOS and Windows 3.1x) here: http://falcosoft.hu/sse.zip The other cool stuff about Windows 95 ended up being covered in the year after instead.
